Recently, the National Health Commission commended some units with outstanding performance in international medical aid in 2022, including the 17th Medical Team to Sao Tome and Principe led by Professor Yang Yi from the Vascular Surgery, WCH.
The medical team consisted of seven members from WCH, the Third People’s Hospital of Chengdu, and Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital. During their one-year stay in Sao Tome and Principe, they delivered high-level and high-quality medical services for the local people, actively constructed the local health system, and responded to public health incidents. As a result, they won high praise from the local government and the people. As the 17th consecutive medical team sent by the WCH over the past 17 years, it was also the first national-level international medical team led by the WCH in its history.
